Brickies wanted...good pay....!! Tue 19/8.

Tue 19/8/08. I went to the site this morning, full of anticipation of seeing the mud now mixed with wonderful bricking mortar. Nothing new.... !! Just mud... no mortar!! The La Mesa's are still bundled together, packaged and un-opened...!!

In speaking to my SS (whom I am meeting for the first time on Thursday) he conceded that he is having a tough time getting a brickie. (I think he has allocated all his top resources to "The Neils", hence their good progress over the last week...hehe).
He has "teased " me by claiming he may have a brickie ready to start on Monday (he's just finishing his apprenticeship..!!), but given this is a full 2 weeks later than what PD Admin told me 3 weeks ago, I fear my Christmas handover is looking more and more distant.

Anyway, Bi-fold door has been added to dining/alfresco, which I guess is something.

Note - I am still awaiting engineers report as to whether the pole or house is on the lean...!!

New bi-folds. I know these are going to look terrific finished and stained, but looking at them now, I ask myself "... how much were these..."?
.

.

Sliding door to master bedroom balcony.
.

Rear bedroom. Glazed window for neighbor privacy, yet his window is not....!!!
.

Upstairs living room window. (House two doors down being marked out).
.

Stairwell
.

Kitchen side of house. Note, we relocated the hot-water service from the other side of the house to here. I guess we just wanted the hot water to be as close as possible to the kitchen. This logical....?
.

Other side of house, now with rear framing completed.
.

This is a potential storm water blockage if ever I have seen one.....!

Sorry to hear about the lack of brickies, and no you can't have mine ;-) I wonder who will check up on the newly qualified brickie if you get him?

So I've had a good look at your house and noticed that you have a sliding door from the living/family room out and have deleted the sliding door from the rumpus and put in a window! I love seeing what other people do with the Cremorne plan.

I feel your pain over the windows, I can live with what we've got. Hard to have it in a bedroom though isn't it? I guess your neighbour must have more meters between the house and the fence than what you do. If we had 3.5m distance from house to boundary then we wouldn't have needed it. Maybe one day down the track it might accidentally get smashed and replaced with clear!

Bugger about the brickies. One of the problems down our way is that some of the tradies are jumping ship to another builder, because they get better pay! Hope things happen for you very soon. Regarding the hot water, I think you've made a good decision, as the hot water takes ages to come through to our kitchen. Having said that, the ensuite isn't too bad.

Yep, apparently good brickies are sooo in demand atm! Even though it's hard to wait now, better to wait a little bit longer , and make sure you have a good one! Hope they find you one soon!
