Day-shots, with a few grumbles - Sun 5/10/08.

Sun 5/10/08. Not a great deal of changes since last post. Walls and ceilings look to have been sanded back smooth, and stairs have been delivered (not yet installed).
As mentioned numerous times before, daytime visits tend to find "little things" that raise the eyebrows.

Top part of house has been pressure cleaned, as can be clearly seen.
.

Grumble 1. Note the top 3 layers of bricks on the balcony. These clearly aren't La Mesa's.....!! They suspiciously look more like the bricks from the construction site across the road....(which coincidentally has some spare bricks left over)!!! Now my balcony will be rendered, so this will not be seen from the outside, although I will need to check if the inside of the balcony is also rendered. Perry, Andy & Mike. Did you get render on the inside here?

Grumble 2. More stair parts. Just love how they have delivered and placed these. The big piece on top took a nice chunk out of the plaster wall...!
.

Grumble 3. This is frustrating..! Above is a photo of the plug in our upstairs bathroom shower. Up until last weekend, if you looked down into it, you would see a bit of water and the normal PVC plumbing. Today, that bit you can see in the middle of the plug (in the photo) is the downstairs family room floor...!! Why? Because something has fallen down into the plug, smashed the plumbing and gone straight through the plaster to downstairs..!! (refer below pic). Lovely.....!!

Great exterior pics. Bit cheeky to use neighbours bricks.....render should be on the outside and inside of the portico - that's what we were told.

Wonder what/who poked something through the plug/pipe? Upsetting to see these sort of reckless acts isn't it?

Looks like we are travelling at the same pace at the moment.

Our render was applied on the inside of the balcony as well - so no problem in using different bricks. You can see a picture here: http://lh5.ggpht.com/PerryAndBernadette/SH54TCVGaYI/AAAAAAAABR4/rMhUli6a718/s800/render-8.JPG not long after the render was applied.

I know they render the inside, but that's still a bit cheeky!

Grr...one thing that really bugs me is when they are careless and just chuck things wherever - a lot of these tradies seem to take no pride in their work at all!

On the bright side, it's moving along really well, and looking great (another one who'll possibly end up beating us to the finish!!!)

Hi David

PD do render the whole balcony, so no problem there. Very sly in using the bricks from across the road...

Do you have any spare bricks at all?

Keep on checking and regularly report your findings to the supervisor...

Looking good, love those eaves...:)

Thanks all
H2B. It just comes down to another repair that now needs to be done. Reporting it to SS, his response ..."these things happen...". Clumsiness and/or shoddy workmanship is clearly accepted..! Think I'd make a good SS...!

B&P. Thanks for this. Glad that the different bricks will not be seen. Hoping my render looks as good as yours.

Petal. I just KNOW that I will experience further slow downs. Apart from some brickie delays, our progress has been good, but there is still a lot yet to do, and I am aware of other bloggers reporting slow-ups later in the process. And then there is always those red dots...!

awallace. grrrr. As my roof is not yet sealed over the HT room, those nice new eaves copped an absolute soaking yesterday.....!!!
