PCI ticked off.....Mon 1/12/108

Mon 1/12/08. Ok......PCI completed today, with no real surprises. Most issues identified were more around minor paint dings and runs (approx 50 of these). Sue was in her element finding these, and Scott had no objections with placing a sticker on each. He identified quite a few himself.

Other issues identified included
.
- a few doors that don't close up nicely
- a few door handles either missing or faulty
- lots of paint splatter on internal window frames
- false bottom in kitchen cabinets to cover 12v downlight transformers yet to be built.
- a few weather seals to certain doors still to be applied (laundry door and bifiolds)
- noisy fan in powder room
- and our two wall bows that Scott is not yet sure how to correct, but says he will correct....

The good thing to come out of the PCI is that handover has now been confirmed and set for 10am Fri 12th Dec.

So, the next 11 days will basically be about repairs, and no doubt a real sloooooowwww drag to the 12th.
.
Quite a few tasks to be done immediately (very immediately) following handover, so all going to plan, moving in will commence from boxing day, with the family officially in by New Years Eve.

You are truly on the home stretch now (get it!!). Hope all goes according to plan during the next week and a half and you get your keys as scheduled.
If you are not moving in until after Christmas how will you be keeping all appliances safe? Bit sceptical now after tonight's break in.

Petal. Next 11 days waiting for keys will be agony. At this stage, you just want to get in there and make it your home. Bet you know the feeling...

Gang. Just read your blog. what can I say? At least no damage.
Appliances have been booked for deliv just before Xmas, at which point, I will become a resident (and Security Officer)

Whooo Hooo!! Go your tradies. Great to hear that nothing major has come up and that you are on the home stretch. I am sure that the 12th seems further off than christmas when you are 6!

Hi David, read your blog and email late last night, had been wondering all day how it went. Sounds like it went really well. Great stuff!

The next 11 days will go quick, you'll have those keys in your hands before you know it!

You are nearly there......on the home stretch now. Lucky bugger :-)

Woohoo! All sounds like minor stuff with the fix-its.

Great photo. You're looking very proud, David!

I'm still spittin' chips that we were right on par with your build a couple of months ago and look where you are now!

Keys!!! Bring on the keys! Photo of the keys asap, please!

Cheers

T. I still think those 11 days will be a real drag, particualarly as Scott hasn't warmed to me wanting to do any minor works in the meantime ie undercutting door jams for laminate.

Liana. First, did you see my brick patterns from my previous entry?
Now I still thinking you'll be in before you know it, so who gets keys first wont matter. Having said this, I am eagerly awaiting your news from that "important" meeting yesterday. ....... ????

Oh no! I totally missed your previous post ... and that was THE post I've been waiting for!!! Just went back and read it.

H2B was right - I did pick up on your brick blendig photo, after I screamed at the long-awaited photo of those glossy 104s! How great are they! No probs finding your house in a black-out.

Bricks - I guess it comes down to what is in the eye of the beholder. In our case, the rear wall (with the worst case of brick blending) is going to be the one we stare at the most from our back yard entertaining area. The sides of the house, we weren't too fussed about because no-one would really see it.

So, back the all the exciting stuff I've got to say:

Your red splashback is SEN...SA...TIONAL! Can't wait for ours now. It looks great with the black benchtop.

"Sunset over the Degauls" - just like my "Sunset over Sheffield". I'm guessing your house faces west. If so, great for those endless Sunday afternoon sessions on the back deck.

On that note, this is the most apt time to say "Cheers"!

Liana
