Very happy....well mostly - Tue 14/10/08

Tue 14/10/08. I'm guessing the fixing carpenters rolled up this morning but were unable to find a spare car park so went home...!! No further fixing completed upstairs, but garage roof completed, cabinets installed & balcony framed.

Lots of photos, so little text tonight..

At last, starting to take shape.

Quartz bench tops yet to be delivered. Perhaps held off due to risk of damage. These will be starlight black. Splashback will be red.

Oh yes.... it now makes sense what that yellow painted square was a month ago...!! A hole in the wrong spot. Not overly fussed with this.

Wow David! Great progress yesterday! Don't worry about the fixers, the cabinet installers were there! Great to see the garage taking shape, I know you must be so happy to see this finally happening.

Cabinets looks great, black top in pantry will tie in with your black QQ nicely Chef :-) What colour are your cabinets? Wonder what they will plug the hole up with??

Looks as if we have the same vanity basins as you guys in all three rooms, love them.

Welcome to your first spider :-)

Thanks for all the pics David, the house is really coming along. Nice to see you have a squatter in the house already too. I too wouldn't be fussed about the hole in the floor - they will no doubt tidy it up nicely.

Who-ahh! (Make an "O" with your mouth when you say that). Talk about massive progress in just 1 day.

As your build unfolds, I can see we have very similar tastes: the red Madison doors, the red splashback, you have black QQ, we have white QQ but gloss black cabinets, handles are the same. Love your style!

Your first occupant is a good luck sign in some cultures. I suppose it's because they start the "home" environment for you, or just breed if they get lonely.

Eh, holes in the floor. No biggy. I think I mentioned in an earlier comment, our floor and walls resemble a patchwork quilt but it all gets finished off nicely.

What colour are your cabinets? Did you go with straight laminex or vinyl wrap?

Gee those cabinets went in quickly, good to see something happening, even if it isn't what you expected. Kitchen is coming together well but the black QQ will top it off nicely I think.

Hi all. Thanks for comments and feedback..

H2B. Cabinets are Pearl Grey. The vanity basins grabbed our attention the very first time we visited the Cremorne display home at Caroline Springs. Just had to have them.

T&I. Given that our planned laminate flooring will cover the hole, I am not too worried. More worried about other measurements that PD may have got wrong that I haven't found yet.

L&R. Big tick for those Scorpion doors. I think we went for straight laminex on the cabinets. Probably another question that was asked towards the end off that long day at Hopetoun Interiors, when I was answering "yeah, what ever". As for first occupant, cute at the moment, but my advice to him....don't grow...!!

Bellebeau. Without the benchtop, one can only imagine if it will be a good decision or not. We were both consious of a massive black slab, but thought the pearl grey cabinets may soften the look. Time will tell.

Very exciting - cabinetry really makes it feel like a house! I'm sure your QQ will look really striking against the Pearl Grey. QQ doesn't normally go in until the tiles - ours just went in before that b/c a lot of our build has been a bit topsy-turvy!!!
